About Us
The Monsignor Henry O’Carroll Council #444 started on September 5, 1899, 17 years after the Knights of Columbus was established. Its first Grand Knight was Francis Gorman and the first Chaplain was Father Henry O’Carroll, who was later elevated to Monsignor in 1937. He remained a chaplain until his death in 1957. Our council is named in honor of Monsignor O’Carroll.
Through the years the council had several council houses that provided a venue for meetings as well as social gatherings. Membership rose and fell depending on the times. Today there are over 150 members. The current council house is located at 53 Old Little Britain Road, Newburgh, N.Y.

Embark on a journey through history and honor at the Knights of Columbus Council 444's prestigious annual Columbus Day Ball, slated for October 13, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 10:30 PM. This year, our celebration takes on an even deeper significance as we pay tribute to the remarkable legacy of our esteemed Knight of the Year, Paul Desroches. In the splendid setting of La Casa Vicina, join us for an evening of fine dining, music and dancing, as we commemorate not only the 125th anniversary of our council but also the outstanding contributions of Paul Desroches. Tickets for this extraordinary event are priced at $65 per person, and pre-registration is mandatory to secure your place among our honored guests.
